4NanoEARDRM M24 meeting took place virutally

Originally, meeting was planned to take place at University of Maastrich on 06-07.07.2020. Due to current COVID-19 situation, we held the meeting in a digital environment. We spent two days discussing the recent advances of the projects. Thanks to all our partners, INSTM - Italian Consortium on Materiel Science and Technology, MERLN Maastricht University, MyBiotech GmbH, Istanbul Arel University and Linari Engineering the meeting was as fruitful as a face-to-face meeting.

4NanoEARDRM German partners attended the National Review Meeting at Dresden

German partners MJR PharmJet GmbH und The Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) met the Dr. Stefan Pieper and Steffen Hey to review the project progress. The meeting was hosted by The Technische Universität Dresden. During the meeting, project progress was discussed and the work for the remaining project period was evaluated. The Review Meeting finished with a visit of the facilities of TUD, where the participants also had the chance to observe the characterization work done by TUD and attend a mini exercise to practice ear surgery on a 3D dummy model.

5th Biomaterial days Symposium

Ms. Burcu Gencer, a graduate student, attended the 5th Biomaterial Days Symposium, which took place at Yıldız Technical University from 22 to 23 October 2018. She presented a poster with the title “Synthesis and Characterization of Molecularly Imprinted Nano Structures for Controlled Drug Release”. She met scientists interested in biomaterials from different universities of Turkey. Therefore it was an excellent opportunity for her to exchange scientific ideas, to discuss interesting research topics and to make new collaborations.

World TERMIS Conferce, Kyoto

Serena Danti and Luisa Trombi attended the World TERMIS conference held in Kyoto from 4-7 September (during the typhoon!!) to represent the 4NanoEARDRM team. During the poster presentation several asian students and researchers came and asked questions. The idea of a multifucntional tympanic membrane scaffold was highly appreciated. In particular, the use of an instructive polymer, such as PEOT/PBT, able to reduce inflammatory cytokines and to stimulate innate immune response (via defensins) was considered a very interesting and potentially successful to fight chronic otitis media. By the way, it was quite unusual facing a typhoon and more than 3000 attandants had to reschedule their flights. Serena and Luisa flew through Korea and China, to be back safe in Europe after a 36 hour travel.
